Bonnie Doon is one of Sydney’s oldest golf clubs. The design looks to mimic the work of nature, with a mixture of irregular and undulations, wispy roughs and rugged bunker lips that appear to have formed from years of wind and rain. There is an abundance of undulating sandy ground and some marvelous vegetation. Both aspects encourage the feeling of playing a very natural golf course. The course still holds its original charm and provides a good all-round test of your golfing skills. The greens are firm and well-paced and bunkering is deployed to excellent visual and ball-swallowing effect, as at the par 4 9th hole. The fairways are presented, like the rest of the course, in top condition which matches the quality of the clubhouse. From the more elevated parts of the course, eg. at the 8th, panoramic views encompass the surrounding suburbs and the more distant Sydney CBD skyline.
